Operational Improvement

Newton work with manufacturing companies to increase profit by helping them to improve the performance of their existing operations.

Although it is now routine practice within organisations striving for efficiency to run internal improvement programmes, these are often focused mainly on strategic or ‘top down’ initiatives. Included in this approach are streamlining processes, removing duplication, restructuring, re-organisation and new IT systems. All well known and proven methods of cost reduction.

However, one area often overlooked is the considerable financial saving that can be made by unlocking the potential that lies at the shop floor. This potential is often not fully understood or is recognised by the business but seen as a constraint of the manufacturing process, or just ‘the nature of the beast.’ Sometimes our clients have previously invested time, money and energy in a continuous improvement programme, such as Lean or Six Sigma, but, for a number of reasons, have not seen the return they were expecting. Other clients are already at the top of the field and are looking for expert input to help them stay there.

Also, internal initiatives to increase operational efficiencies often result in a need for capital expenditure, rather than finding sustainable ways of improving the performance of the existing processes. Our approach is different. We work directly with the operational management and shopfloor teams to systematically identify and recover the hidden potential within our clients’ operations.

By using our rigorous methodology, tailored to each specific process, we help our clients achieve a 10% to 50% step change in the performance of their manufacturing process, whether manual or automated, within 2-6 months, without capital expenditure. Without fail.

All the work we do is set up around delivering a tangible, measurable financial return. If we don’t deliver, we don’t get paid. We have always met our objectives.
