The role of a Business Manager is to deliver major improvement programmes by leading large, multifunctional teams and developing individuals to success. A Business Manager is responsible for building productive relationships with clients which will lead to new opportunities for Newton. Strong programme and change management skills are essential as is the ability and desire to help others.


  • Designing and leading complex and multifaceted programmes within a cluster
  • Leading assessments on client site with the view to selling new programmes of work
  • Staying enough in the detail to shape managers and project leads and deliver project updates to sector boards/senior clients
  • Influencing and coaching up to C-Suite
  • Leading assessments on client site with the view to selling new programmes of work
  • Supporting other projects by offering advice and challenge where appropriate


  • Motivate teams by generating confidence to achieve outstanding results
  • Embracing challenges that may arise to overcome project setbacks
  • Understanding the strengths and weaknesses within the team to ensure project success
  • Support development and further career plans for Senior Consultants and Lead Consultants in the team and across the business as a Development Manager including taking responsibility for hiring and performance management decisions


  • Providing leadership within the sector/area of expertise

  • Holding relationships with clients, potential future clients and key sector figures not associated with existing programmes
  • Holding productive relationships with Senior Advisors to grow understanding of the industry and create relationships with industry leaders


  • Exceptional skills within leading and developing large teams with multiple reporting lines
  • Significant experience of leading large-scale programmes of change, with a passion and enthusiasm for driving change through detailed results
  • Experience of growing and developing new clients and shaping the product
  • Track record and appetite for account management and growing industry presence
  • Selfless behaviour towards peers
  • High level of self-awareness and agility to support personal development ambitions and those of others

  • Lifestyle - we work on-site with our clients in diverse locations, you will be expected to work onsite at client locations for the duration of your project. During this time all reasonable expenses will be covered. At Newton, we look after our people and we don’t work weekends
  • For all experienced hires there is an expectation of development into the role and a minimum initial onboarding plan of 9-12 months which will be tailored to individuals and allow the best understanding of Newton including all sectors
