The details

Directors are relied upon to run a successful and sustainable business as part of a cluster with an individual average revenue of £3-5m per annum. This means sustainable team development, sustainable business development and sustainable product development leading to strong financials. Even though the role would be expected to help shape the sector strategy, the role also has a strong technical side, as we believe in business development through delivery.

LEADERSHIP

  • Providing inspirational leadership across the business
  • Owning, developing and driving areas of the strategy within the sector / area of the business
  • Leveraging new products and intellectual property ideas across the company
  • Leading and becoming a trusted advisor with the senior client and Newton senior leadership team

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Leading generation of quality pipelined work, either through direct new client engagement and / or account development
  • External market profile, being recognised as a significant authority and able to present coherent and industry relevant views at external events, leveraging Senior Advisor relationships to support this
  • Creating a compelling solution to resolve complex issues and building business cases that sell wider programmes of work
  • Owning the total client relationship and account plans in the broadest sense

PROGRAMME AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Directing complex and multifaceted programmes delivering to time and budget
  • Leading assessments on client site with the view to selling new programmes of work
  • Influencing and coaching up to C-Suite
  • Supporting other projects by offering advice and challenge where appropriate

MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Developing plans for growth, retention and development of teams across multiple projects
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of direct reports to ensure that the right development plans for their team are in place
  • Responsibility for hiring and performance decisions in the team

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Proven track record of operating as an effective leader in a consulting firm with a minimum of 8 years experience
  • Significant experience of leading large-scale programmes of change, with a passion and enthusiasm for driving change through detailed results
  • Experience of growing and developing a sector and shaping the final product
  • Inspirational thought leader and innovative thinker with an external presence
  • Track record and appetite for account management and growing industry presence
  • Experience of leading and developing a team and a passion for doing so
  • High level of self-awareness and desire for further development
  • Clear and structured communication with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels up to C-Suite both internally and externally

KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS

  • Lifestyle - we work on-site with our clients in diverse locations, you will be expected to work onsite at client locations for the duration of your project. During this time all reasonable expenses will be covered. At Newton, we look after our people and we don’t work weekends
  • For all experienced hires there is an expectation of development into the role and a minimum initial onboarding plan of 9-12 months which will be tailored to individuals and allow the best understanding of Newton including all sectors
