Principal Consultants design and deliver large scale change programmes with a team of Newton consultants (from Consultant to Lead) and a supporting client team. They work on the ground with both Newton and client teams, coaching each to be sustainable once Newton leaves. Reporting to a Business Manager, Director or Partner the Principal Consultant is often the most senior Newton onsite day to day.


  • Working on tender documents and pre-sale client assessments to define the project scope Managing and designing a change programme (e.g. training, workshops, events, recognition initiatives)
  • Ensuring all managers are effectively and robustly using programme management tools and techniques to ensure excellence in delivery
  • Staying enough in the detail to shape the project as well as delivering top line detail during senior client meetings
  • Using change management principles to ensure that the change is designed to be client owned and sustainable
  • Coaching and leading the client through change to become a trusted advisor


  • Managing and developing managers across projects and workstreams as a senior member of the client-facing consulting team
  • Responsible for the professional development and welfare of the team through individual training and coaching
  • Acting as a Development Manager for up to 4 Senior Consultants in various areas of the business


  • Being held up as a role model amongst the wider business with a reputation as an inspirational leader
  • Building on personal passions to influence and improve internal processes within Newton including delivering training


  • Start to have business development conversations and take an active role in the sales pipeline through defining pre-sale assessments
  • Designing and developing Newton products for new and existing clients to buy


  • Exceptional skills within leading and developing teams (including Lead Consultants) of at least 6
  • Excellent analytical skills to deliver fact not opinion by coaching the team and client into finding the root cause of a problem
  • Consistently using proven change management and programme management skills to deliver excellence
  • Demonstrable experience of developing trusted and lasting client relationships up to C-Suite
  • Has led successful teams through individual development and coaching and encourages others to do so
  • A desire to continually self-develop


  • Lifestyle - we work on-site with our clients in diverse locations, you will be expected to work onsite at client locations for the duration of your project. During this time all reasonable expenses will be covered. At Newton, we look after our people and we don’t work weekends
