The details

What is the role?

We are looking for a recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or final stage CIMA/ACCA to join us as a Finance Analyst. Sitting in our pivotal finance team, you will report directly to the Head of Performance and BI and will need to develop strong relationships right across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to join and help shape a new team with the need to make a positive commercial contribution to both our internal support functions and the wider business performance.

Your core responsibilities will include understanding and investigating current performance levels, identifying areas of improvement through analysis of various data sets, helping towards identifying and implementing potential improvements to current performance, producing forecasts and ad-hoc analysis, with a strong emphasis on reporting to our main Boards.

A key element of the role will be to enhance, develop and review KPIs and dashboard reporting for various functions across the business. You will leverage and further develop your commercial acumen through providing business leaders with understanding and insight, create value adding ad hoc analysis and reporting, whilst helping to increase performance across the company.

Critical to the success of the role will be your ability to build positive working relationships and trust within the business so that you are able to challenge and contribute as a ‘business person’ as well as a finance practitioner.

Integrating well with the existing Finance team through collaboration, sharing best practice and support is an essential part of being successful in this role. Strong communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to get stuck in and ensure all deadlines are met.

Your education, skills and experience:

You’ll be a high calibre individual, with exceptional levels of personal drive and eagerness for personal development. An analytical mind, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a positive attitude are essential to fit into the Newton culture.

  • Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (eg Pivot Tables, Vlookup, Index and Match)
  • Ability to verify and validate data
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Self-motivated and ability to project manage
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI (Desirable)

How do we develop and reward you?

Newton’s culture is prefaced on maximising the potential of our people, whether in client-based consulting roles, or in support functions. The prospects for career and personal development in this role are no exception, with the medium-term expectation of promotion within the team (or more broadly within the rapidly growing head office), with next steps potentially to include assuming people management responsibilities and management of key elements of the performance team.

Supporting you starts from day one. Throughout your time at Newton, you’ll get support from several sources – from stretching projects, on-the-job feedback and developmental guidance from our leaders. You’ll attend our ‘Induction Training Camp’ and have a dedicated and consistent Development Manager to support your career progression. You’ll receive regular appraisals and annual pay reviews.

We offer a highly competitive salary and our generous benefits package includes Life Assurance, Income Protection, pension contributions and 27 days’ holiday.

Joining us also brings many social benefits! We have a full social calendar with Autumn and Spring activity days, Christmas events, 3-day Summer event and 4 Newton-sponsored weekends a year.
