We are currently a team of over 120 in the Head Office at Newton. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Executive to join our People team in a permanent, full-time role based in our Head Office in Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire with plenty of opportunity to work flexibly and travel to different locations and events.

As Newton has grown, so has our internal communications function. This is a role where you’ll be developing and implementing communication programmes and plans that promote and protect Newton's reputation in line with business goals. You’ll be working with our teams to create strong content and materials across a full range of channels, while making sure that our business-as-usual communication is well managed and delivered with creativity and style.

Your main accountabilities will include:

  • Originating messaging and content – Creating engaging and informative internal communications content and materials across all platforms which meet project objectives. You’ll be as happy with the written word as creating short videos and animations
  • Planning and executing project communication – Working with specific project teams or business areas, you’ll develop and implement internal communication plans
  • Proactively managing BAU content – You’ll manage a number of our internal communications channels – our intranet and weekly newsletter for example - to ensure that our content is both aligned and well planned
  • Measurement and evaluation – Understanding impact is part of Newton’s DNA. You’ll build measurement into your projects and our BAU channels, ensuring that our internal communication continuously improves to meet the needs of our people
  • Supporting our listening and feedback activities – You’ll actively support our open Q&A Forums ensuring they are effectively delivered and feedback loops are actioned and closed
  • Providing Internal Communications expertise and guidance – You’ll be a confident and credible communicator, offering practical and creative ideas alongside internal communications expertise to support successful project delivery

Essential skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Has operated as part of an internal communications team, in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrable evidence of the ability to create and deliver against internal communication plans, overcoming challenges and driving activities through to completion
  • Developing channel management expertise.  You’ll have a good sense of how internal communications channels can be used in a variety of situations dependent on audience needs
  • You’ll love the written word! You’ll have strong written skills across all channels and platforms and you can evidence how you effectively translate content depending on platform and audience.
  • A journalistic approach in that you are confident in asking questions, writing, copy-editing and proofing
  • Confident working with digital content, creating short videos and simple animations
  • A methodical and rigorous approach with a good eye for detail.
  • Confident with internal communications measurement and analytics. Can provide examples of where data and insight (quantitative and qualitative) has been used to adjust plans and continuously improve. Basic ability to present quantitative data via the creation of charts etc
  • Professionally credible, able to build relationships at all levels quickly and effectively. Can provide examples of working with project teams to deliver strong internal communication outcomes
  • Tenacious and curious. Can listen to multiple view-points, navigate challenge, and adjust plans to ensure business needs are met
  • Has a passion for personal development and is able to self-reflect on personal ability. Is professionally curious and seeks to integrate new professional best-practise into day to day work
  • Understands the significance of operating with integrity in a communications context
  • Strong IT skills including O365 and SharePoint Intranets
  • Driving license


  • Either in receipt of, or working towards Internal Communications Qualification – IoIC / Degree or qualified by experience

Other role requirements:

  • Is happy to work away from home, including a UK overnight, approximately one night/two full days a month to support Newton event requirements
  • Is happy with some wider UK travel to other offices/venues on an ad-hoc basis
