WHAT IS THE ROLE?

You will be instrumental in the initiation, definition and realisation of the various IT products and services essential to Newton’s head office and consultant body. Driving innovation and removing challenges and complexities to promote major efficiencies across the business.

As Lead Product Owner you will oversee the development of IT and business products from inception to delivery and further into iterative improvements based on user and support feedback and product metrics. You will collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and anticipate their need and translate these into accurate, unambiguous product requirements, and guide these through the full product lifecycle.

You will own and deliver various types of products, including the selection, integration and configuration of off-the-shelf SaaS solutions; definition, refinement and supporting the implementation of bespoke development for internal projects; and collaborating with client-facing development teams to produce innovative products for our extensive client base.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating effectively between various stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate utilisation of available technical resources
  • Maintaining the product roadmap for specific business areas and work with the Product Manager to define the overall roadmap
  • Managing the product backlog and prioritising them based on business needs
  • Observing, guiding and assisting through all stages of the product development
  • Developing accurate, unambiguous user stories
  • Liaising with development, infrastructure and support teams
  • Participating in regular stand-up and agile process meetings

YOUR EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

You’ll be a high calibre individual, with exceptional levels of personal drive and eagerness for personal development. An analytical mind, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a positive attitude are essential to fit into the Newton culture.

You’ll have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Highly organised
  • Analytical approach to complex problem solving
  • Ability to interact effectively and empathically with both stakeholders and technical teams
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies, ideally the Scaled Agile Framework
  • Proficiency in the use of Product tools, ideally Aha and Azure DevOps
  • Effective and considered prioritisation
  • Knowledge of user-centred design principles
  • Experience ideally in Product Ownership though UX/UI design, technical roles or project management in an agile environment will also be considered
  • Ability to work and interact in large teams
  • Technical experience an advantage

Highly desirable:

  • Certification in Product Ownership (eg. CSPO or PSPO)
  • Development skills
  • UX/UI experience
