The details

Finance is a crucial part of managing our resources and sustaining cashflow to ensure robust operational performance. It will also involve informing strategy and leveraging growth using a commercial lens. Join us as Finance Graduate to work at the heart of Newton and be uniquely placed to gain financial and commercial exposure across an entrepreneurial and growing business.

Joining our Finance Team in our Head Office at a time where we are growing on average 20% per annum, will enable you to grow your career just as fast! This role will be based in our Head Office, and you’ll be able to work from home 3-4 times per week. You’ll join us in Sept 2023, but we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to be best placed in securing your offer with us. 

This exciting rotating opportunity joining as a Finance Graduate, will provide you with an exposure to a wide set of experiences and the opportunity to become an important part of our fast-growing business.

What you’ll do

By rotating through 3 – 6 month placements in different functions within Finance, you’ll have the opportunity to add value and gain extensive and in-depth functional experience. You will be uniquely placed to gain commercial exposure across an entrepreneurial and growing business. Your rotations will involve Finance Operations, Planning and Investment, Business Partnering and Performance and Business Intelligence.

These rotations allow for you to seize the opportunity to gain a wide range of commercial experience in an entrepreneurial growing business. Progressing through these placement rotations, you’ll likely gain an aptitude and desire for one rotation. We would expect you to be able to progress in this function after 15 – 18 months. The ideal candidate would then be excited by and capable of continuing to progress through positions in the Finance function they joined and have a long-term plan of joining the business management and leadership. In each area you’ll work alongside a member of our existing teams to understand those roles and gain hands on experience.

During your induction, you will partake in various activities to help fully immerse you into your team and the wider business. These onboarding sessions will include Presentation Skills, Excel training and networking with the other graduates in your cohort. Beyond your induction, your development will continue. You’ll have a dedicated and consistent Development Manager to support your career progression, receive regular appraisals and annual pay reviews. You will also have a Line Manager, who will be available to give you guidance and support throughout your learning journey with stretching projects and on-the-job feedback.

We offer a highly competitive salary and our generous benefits package includes Life Assurance, Income Protection, pension contributions and 25 days’ holiday. Your overall starting package will be £33,000-£36,000 per annum plus a £3,000 joining bonus. Joining us also brings many social benefits! Your Finance rotations could include:

Finance Operations...

  • Looking at ways to ensure our time and expense management processes are best in class
  • Working alongside our Purchase Ledger Management Accountant to ensure the smooth processing and payment of our supplier costs
  • Working alongside the Sales Ledger Management Accountant to ensure we are paid by our clients and manage risks appropriately

Planning & Investment…

  • Analysing trends across the business to feed into financial models
  • Providing financial models to support investment business cases for strategic initiatives for Newton
  • Support the annual business planning process

Business Partnering...

  • Supporting the Finance Business Partners to provide financial challenge, insight and support into our clusters of work
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Cluster Leadership to drive commercial performance
  • Analysis of financial and performance metrics, building dashboards and using these to drive improvements forward

Performance & Business Intelligence...

  • Identifying opportunity within the business to better capture and present performance data to drive measurable improvements
  • Working with teams to understand data and unlock its value , provide insight and clarity on current performance levels.
  • Helping to devise and track against actions plans to help drive performance across all aspects of the business.
