What is the role?

The Employer Brand Creative Specialist is a new role that will work within the Employer Brand team that will help build awareness of Newton as an employer of choice though creative visual designs.

Building and managing an organisation’s reputation as an employer has been proven to demonstrably increase the quality of individuals we hire, the level of engagement that existing employees have and, ultimately, can be shown to assist in the profitability of the organisation overall. Developing a coherent, compelling and relevant employer brand is therefore a vital part of our ongoing people strategy.

The goal is to inspire and attract our target audiences to Newton. Our visual identity and all graphics therefore need to capture the attention of those who see them and communicate messages that resonate. For this, we are looking for someone with creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into creative design. Our in-house creative specialist will work with external agencies on design concepts for Newton, alongside using their own design skills to create assets for external use, be it videos, web pages, adverts, event material or digital bro​chures.

General responsibilities

To help us bring Newton’s employer brand to life visually across multiple channels we are looking for an in-house creative specialist with a broad range of design skills. This role includes the creation of employer brand design concepts, along with designing and delivering supporting marketing assets in hard copy, digital or video format. It may also include liaising directly with external agencies who may be producing material as part of our employer brand campaigns.

Design graphics that are visually appealing and on brand to support the Employer Brand team. Particular day to day responsibilities include the following:

  • Understand the employer branding visual identity and proposition and ensure it is implemented across all of our graphics.
  • Work closely with the Employer brand team to develop the employer brand visual identity in the longer term
  • Organise employer brand content and asset creation (video, artwork, social posts) for roll out internally and externally, this includes
  • Understand design briefs and determine requirements
  • Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
  • Develop designs and present ideas
  • Work with team/agencies to produce final design
  • Produce/roll out graphics across various media.

Key responsibilities

1. Creative support for key channels

Establish and maintain a consistent creative approach and graphic design across our key channels. Provide refreshing design concepts for key assets including brochures, flyers, candidate packs and web pages. For social media content, there’s an increasing need for innovative design in motion graphics and video to use for paid and organic social media.

2. Employer brand campaign support

Manage external communications/design agencies in delivering compelling and consistent creative concepts for key awareness campaigns, such as our Graduate or Experienced Hire campaigns. Where necessary, design and deliver supporting assets (including digital ads, social assets, event material) in line with the creative concept.

3. Talent pipelining

Develop a toolkit of self-service creative assets and templates to support the introduction of our talent nurturing programme to aid our recruitment strategy.

4. Internal communications

Create design concepts and where necessary supporting templates and assets to support major internal conferences.

5. Key point of liaison with our design and communications agencies

Manage external agencies on creative concepts, working collaboratively to ensure the design is visually compelling and consistent with Newton’s visual identity.
