What Is The Role?

At Newton we are passionate about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). We see this as a fundamental part of our culture and improving our approach to EDI right across our business will support our future growth and success. We have real momentum behind the EDI agenda and a fantastic platform of initiatives, conversations and clarity on our challenges; we are now looking for someone to bring their enthusiasm and passion to make our ambitions a day to day reality for everyone at Newton.

We have a vacancy in our EDI manager role to lead on this key strategic priority and support us all in being EDI champions. The EDI manager will work closely with the Chief People officer who, along with the rest of Newton’s Supervisory Board, is the key sponsor for bringing our vision for EDI to life against tangible measures and benchmarks.

You will also be responsible for executing elements of the plan and holding others, including the Supervisory Board, to account in delivering on their EDI commitments. You will have oversight of the EDI activity across Newton and be a central point of contact to support activities and create alignment.

You do not need to be an expert in EDI but you do need to have a genuine passion and desire to make change happen.

Whilst we have lots of energy and ideas internally on how we take this forward, you will also need to reach out to external experts and other organisations to bring expertise and challenge into Newton. You will build lasting relationships with organisations such as the GEN organisation and work closely with the Newton Foundation on The Elephant Group partnership.

  • Developing and leading on a robust plan which takes us towards our ambition to be a beacon for EDI, underpinned by a set of metrics
  • Working across the People team to support the team in embedding an EDI approach into all our processes and people interventions. This will support our ambition to be the first UK business to achieve GEN accreditation
  • Working with other HO functions to ‘design in’ an EDI approach into our processes and ways of working
  • Having oversight of the EDI activity across Newton so that we continue to build alignment between different groups, including our many networks, and can share best practice
  • Working with external organisations to bring expertise and challenge into Newton
  • Building relationships with 3rd parties to support our approach, such as GEN, Stonewall and SMF
  • Implementing the annual inclusion survey and putting a spotlight on the insight from the survey
  • Building a resource bank and continuing to keep the EDI hub up to date
  • Supporting the Employer Brand team in external communication about Newton’s approach to EDI.
