What is the role?
We are looking for a recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or final stage CIMA to join us as a Finance Business Partner. Sitting in our pivotal finance team, you will report directly to the Commercial Finance Manager, and will need to develop strong relationships right across the business, making a real positive financial control and commercial contribution to both our internal support functions and the consulting delivery teams.
Your core responsibilities for the first 12 months will focus on developing our cost forecasting and reporting, supporting budget holders to develop their budgets, analysing spend and identifying opportunities to improve the value we achieve for the money we spend. The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships quickly and manage stakeholders through a period of change. From their work the candidate will be expected to provide insightful information and be able to design and implement processes in order to improve the business operations. The role will also include production of forecasts and analysis, with a strong emphasis on departmental and project reporting, which will feed directly into Boards to help them make informed decisions.
A key element of the role will be to enhance, develop and review KPIs and dashboard reporting for various functions across the business. You will leverage and further develop your commercial acumen through providing budget holders and project managers with understanding, value adding ad hoc analysis and reporting, whilst helping raise financial awareness across the wider business.
Critical to the success of the role will be your ability to build positive working relationships and trust within the business so that you are able to challenge and contribute as a ‘business person’ as well as a finance practitioner.
An essential part of the success of this role is being able to integrate well with the existing Finance team through collaboration, best practice sharing and support. Strong communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to get stuck in and ensure all deadlines are met.
Your education, skills and experience:
You’ll be a high calibre individual, with exceptional levels of personal drive and eagerness for personal development. An analytical and inquisitive mind, coupled with strong, engaging communication skills and a positive attitude are essential to fit into the Newton culture. The successful candidate will also possess the following attributes:
- Recent ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified/final stage with first time passes.
- 3 years’+ training experience (in practice or industry).
- Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature.
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
