HR Business Partner

The details

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

Our business has grown by 20% a year ever since it was created. We bring in the brightest and best and develop them rapidly to deliver exceptional results to our clients and become leaders in our business. We have inspirational leaders who are looking to grow their business and stretch their people whilst continuing to nurture an ethos and culture which sets us apart from other consultancies.

In 2020, we introduced People Business Partnering to support our business leaders to develop, engage and retain talent in Newton. We now have a team of 2 and we are recruiting for an additional People Business Partner to join us in supporting Newton’s three ‘clusters’ of Consultants, specialist teams and Head Office teams.

We have an exceptional focus on developing our people with expert teams in our People team providing support and advice across talent development, HR operations, EDI, recruitment and engagement. The People Business Partners work with the clusters, the People team and other key stakeholder groups in Newton to help build organisation and people capability, to drive performance and engagement and to manage talent. This is achieved through understanding the business and the cluster, its strategy and the people challenges and opportunities it faces.

Each Business Partner is aligned to a specific cluster and/or specialist area. They provide trusted, expert advice, coaching and subject matter expertise to the cluster boards to inform and challenge leadership appropriately.

The People Business Partner acts as the interface between the cluster and central People team to influence the wider people agenda. They input the clusters’ perspectives to help to shape initiatives and support the communication, engagement and implementation of the Newton people plan in the cluster. The BPs also lead on the design and delivery of cluster-specific people plans.

We are also still a young business, so you won’t find yourself blocked by bureaucracy, but you will find several areas where we need to continue to evolve our approach to meet our evolving business challenges.

In this role you will be responsible for understanding, developing and then driving the business changes necessary for us to meet our current and future talent needs. This will include (but is not limited to):

  • Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders in the business
  • Providing strategic and day-to-day leadership to support the delivery of the people plans for each sector
  • Using experience, skills and knowledge of talent development and people management to make an impact in key areas such as retention, development, performance decisions, recruitment liaison, onboarding and engagement. These interventions will be closely aligned to business requirements and consistent with the business wide People plan objectives
  • Liaising with the recruitment team to support the focus on external recruitment in the sectors and assisting in onboarding new hires
  • Supporting and coaching line managers across the business on driving performance and engagement in their teams.

You will have regular access to the sector boards and will have close relationships with a leadership team in the business who are passionate about their people.

You will work directly for the Head of People Business Partnering and closely with the functional people teams on key business priorities.

There is flexibility around where you work. You must be able to travel to the office to work when required, likely to be around once per week. The consulting teams are usually based on client sites, so there may be some occasional UK travel to meet them face to face.

YOUR EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
